Vegan Remix: Faux Meat Series-Tofu
Tofu is universally known. It is one of those vegan staples that you can find in your local grocery store with ease. As it is readily available, tofu is the first experimental faux meat for many vegans. When starting on my journey to veganism from vegetarism, I used tofu in every dish. There was sesame tofu nuggets, tofu and rice, tofu with mango sauce, sweet n sour tofu, baked tofu and I could go on and on.
Tofu is pretty fun. It comes in square packaging filled to
the brim with water. Once you pour the water off, you are left with a block of
spongy goodness. You can slice it for sandwiches, use circular cutter to make
scallops or blend it for cheese.
Tofu can be used to make cheeses, sauces, creams, smoothies
and even as a scrambled egg substitute.
